Best place in California to live for a extreme athlete?

Im currently living in Texas in the military but I’am about to get out and want to move somewhere that will cater to my hobbies. I’m a avid skydiver so being close to a Dropzone is a must. I enjoy body boarding and surfing so close distance to the ocean would be nice, no more than a hour drive away. I also enjoy snowboarding, mountain biking, rock climbing as well as other mild country activities such as hiking and camping… so close to mountains and wilderness is nice…

I was considering somewhere toward Northern California as I can be close to the ocean as well as mountains to snowboard in the winter and do other outdoor activities.. Any recomendations on towns that would be a good choice would be much appreciated.. would like to stay away from big expensive citys and towns, I prefer your average small rural town. Thanks!

Check out the Santa Cruz area.

Great surf (need a wetsuit, cold water)
DZ about 45 mins away
Many state parks for hiking, camping biking and climbing.
Close to San Jose – cheap flights to Tahoe; otherwise a 4 hour drive.

You might even want to check out San Diego. Mountains are closer, but not as good snow.

Anything in Cali is going to be more expensive than Texas
